A Few Selected Poems From My Book

Hello she said, I’m Sally,
Quietly,
Nonchalantly,
Definitely some sort of wannabe.

I looked up, slowly,
Purposely,
Curiously,
Staring at a face I couldn’t see.

Thick foundation, arguably,
Monstrously,
Consciously,
Covering her skin to the nth degree.

Who was this girl, possibly,
Cautiously,
Despondently,
Actually pretending to be?

With makeup off, completely,
Modestly,
Honestly,
She could show her true beauty.

We would all know, finally,
Happily,
Belatedly,
Her hidden secret and caller ID.
